T206 GAI Authentic Yellow Brown printer scrap sold for $967

Written by T206museum (January, 2006)

19thCenturyOnly sold a GAI Authentic yellow brown printer scrap for $967 in their January 2006 auction.

The following is the auction description:

19thCenturyOnly is pleased to have the opportunity to offer a 1909 T206 Jack Knight (Batting) - Rare Printers Proof. This card was apparently a scrap from the printer that produced the T206 series back in 1909. The color has not been added to the card and only the bat has some yellow. The overprint of the name and team do not appear on the card. Only the name "KNIGHT" which was written on the card probably at a later date to identify the player. The back was printed with a Piedmont Cigarette ad, but the rest of the card was never finished ! The card has a bit of a wavy cut which is characteristic of printer scrap cards due to them never being finished and GAI has appropriately labeled this card with "Evidence of Trimming".
